It is a completely side program where it looks very close to the original servers except instead of clicking a room to join you must copy and paste the ip address into the direct connect option in game. They are a community devoted to keeping ee online since sierra no longer exists and thus no servers. The other option save-ee is one of the largest communities, simply google it and you'll figure it out. Look up for the gameranger option, they will have instructions and there are patches on there (more maps, units, and higher game population limit also you won't need the cd) You pretty much have to get the patches because everyone on gameranger uses them, the latest is 2.2 which will be on the front page of the middlewarrior page(middle warriors is one of the biggest and oldest clans).
Gameranger is an video game multiplayer program which uses many games, simply filter it to only empire earth to see only those games. There are three options, gameranger, save-ee, and NeoEE.
